Senior Art Exhibition Opening Nov 12th

Each fall, the Ashland University Coburn Gallery hosts the Senior Art Exhibition that features the capstone experience for graduating art majors. Bringing together artwork made by graduating seniors in the Department of Art, the Senior Art Exhibitions will open on Thursday, Nov. 12, with an opening reception from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Coburn Art Gallery located in the Center for the Arts on the Ashland University campus.

“While the Senior Art Exhibition provides the capstone experience for graduating art majors, it represents more than just the students’ studio art experiences,” said Cynthia Petry, director of the Coburn Gallery. “For these students of the liberal arts, the exhibition is the culmination of their undergraduate careers at Ashland University.”
The event brings together artwork made by graduating seniors in the Department of Art and includes graphic design, digital art, printmaking and ceramics.
This year’s exhibiting seniors include: Taylor Menhart of Twinsburg, Ohio, B.A. in Commercial Art with a concentration in Graphic Design; Olivia Glass of Mount Vernon, Ohio, B.S. in Art Education, with Ceramics display; Randi Schimmoeller of Ottawa, Ohio, B.A. with a concentration in Printmaking; and Mary Jean Ferretti of Ashland, Ohio, Digital Art concentration.

AU Art Alumnus Mauricio Uranga's-Kawi Planet Kickstarter Campaign

AU Art Department Alumnus Mauricio Uranga's Kickstarter campaign will go live on October 12 to fund his current eco- friendly backpack design. The design was created by his company Kawi Planet which founded with his two brothers in Mexico

Maurico graduated from Ashland University in 2013 with a degree in Painting  and Commercial Art with a concentration in Industrial Design.

"The backpack is made with organic, compostable, vegan materials without the addition of chemicals that harm our environment. It is ergonomically designed, which you will notice as soon as you put it on. The inspiration behind this backpack is the Tarahumara culture; however, we designed it to suit the lifestyle of enthusiastic travelers, exotic artists, book lovers, and people not afraid of expressing their true selves."
